Bridemaids To-Do List...

Your bridesmaids are your best friends and relatives- besides being your emotional supporter and cheerleader during the planning process. What else falls under their to-do lists? Every bride and every wedding is different. So keeping that in mind, here is the basic "Bridesmaid’s To-Do List"


-Go Bridesmaid dresses shopping with the bride- but please keep in mind that the dress choice is ultimately hers
-Get measured and order your bridesmaid dress at least six to seven months before the wedding
-Host an "Invitation Stuffing Party" or a "Favor Making Party." Grab the other girls, a couple bottles of wine and make it a fun night.
-Help to plan and pay for the bachelorette party
-Along with the mom’s of the wedding, help plan and host one of the bridal showers
-Get your hair and make-up done the day of the wedding
-Attend the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner
-Dance the night away at the reception
-Make sure the bride eats the day of the wedding
-Go with the bride to her final gown fitting- so the seamstress can teach you how to bustle her gown.
-Smile through the photography sessions

As a general rule of thumb- the best thing to do is just ask the bride what she needs you to do for her.

Highligt Gown Thursday

Hi to all the BWC brides and brides to be out there!! Welcome to another installment of "Highlight Gown Thursday."

This week we are showcasing a new debut from Mori Lee, style 4523. This gown is stunningly unique and modern, with its one-shoulder neckline. The flower embellishments on the strap are removable. Somethings...

Hello and welcome to another installment of the BWC blog. Every bride has heard the saying "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" but what is a bride to do to fulfill all these categories? Never fear the staff at BWC has come up with some ideas for all the "somethings".

Something New- Your new gown. Your wedding day lingerie. A new piece of jewelry from your fiancé’ that matches your crown or bridal jewelry.

Something Old- Your grandmothers brooch- you can pin it to your gown or attach it to the ribbon on your bouquet. Your future mother-in-law’s family heirloom earrings. Your baptismal hankie or bonnet made into a hankie.

Something blue- Blue Hydrangea flowers, blue sapphire earrings, or a blue pedicure. BWC has a blue crystal ankle bracelet.

Highlight Gown Thursday

Welcome to another installment of Highlight Gown Thursday. This week we are shining the spotlight on Ireland by Maggie Sottero. She is the ultimate Grecian Goddess dress. She is breath-taking. She has a modified sweetheart neckline. Her bodice consists of ethereal ruched chiffon. This chiffon is extra soft and dream-like. The main focal point of the gown is the empire waistline. The empire waist is adorned with intricate beaded embellishments that wrap around the gown to form a belt. Pictures do not do the beading justice at all. Her slim skirt is gently pleated chiffon. She is stunning- and would be perfect for an outdoor or destination wedding.

Hello BWC brides! Welcome to another installment of the BWC blog. At Bonnie's, we receive a lot of questions. We have compiled a list of the top questions asked by brides. Here is a sample.

Q: When should I order my gown or my bridesmaids’ dresses?
A: While every one of designers has a slightly different production times- the general rule of thumb for wedding gowns is preferably around 10 months to a year before your wedding - to allow ample time for production/shipping and alterations. For the bridesmaids dresses- the general rule of thumb is to have the bridesmaid dresses ordered at least six months before the wedding. We here at BWC can try to rush your orders (keep in mind that having to rush an order will also mean a rush fee) if your wedding planning timeline is shorter.

Q: What are bustles- and will I need them?
A: A bustle is term used in sewing- it basically means a system of loops and buttons or ties that raise your train off the floor during the reception. You will need them if your gown has a train. There are three main types of bustles that BWC recommends (Traditional, French and "the Mel"). During your fittings your seamstress will work with you to determine which type of bustle works best for your body type and your gown.

**The BWC tip of the week**

Bonnie’s Wedding Center pride's itself in being considered a full service bridal salon, helping our couples with all aspects of wedding apparel, accessories, invitations, etc. There have been times when BWC was contacted for clergy suggestions to perform marriage ceremonies. Bonnie’s is now happy to say that we are now able to help our couples with that all-important aspect in planning their wedding. We can now provide couples an ordained minister to perform wedding ceremonies. Maridene Olson, Owner/Partner at Bonnie’s, is an ordained nondenominational minister of the Universal Ministries, headquartered in Milford, IL. Maridene is a baptized Christian, who decided to become an ordained minister in order to provide this special service to any of our couples who might be in search of someone to perform their wedding ceremony. Universal Ministries beliefs are of acceptance and faith in the God you worship. It is an all faiths church that does not deny God’s ability to touch people in many ways, a truly independent nondenominational church and one that comply with the laws of all states. Bridesmaids 101-

As a bride you want your bridesmaids to look and feel beautiful on your big day- so choosing the perfect bridesmaid dress can be a difficult decision. Never fear-here are some tips and things to consider when choosing your bridesmaid dresses. The first thing to consider is your gown- you can pick details from your gown and use those same details for your bridesmaid dresses- whether it be the same fabric or a similar neckline. Another thing to contemplate is the formality of your wedding- if you’re having an elegant evening affair a tea length chiffon dress might not be your best option. However, the same adorable tea length chiffon dresses would be perfect for a lakeside summer event. The next thing to consider is your bridesmaids body type. As general rule of thumb a classic A line dress will flatter all body types. A halter style works well if you have bustier bridesmaids. If you are blessed to have an expecting bridesmaid consider a maternity style. One of the recent trends is to set apart your maid of honor by having her wear the same dress as your bridesmaids but in a different color- or to have your maid of honor wear a different dress but in the same color as the rest of the bridesmaids. The next step is to do your research- you can view all our bridesmaids’ designers by clicking the bridesmaids link on the left side of the blog. Once you have narrowed down your choices you can have your local bridesmaids come in and try our favorites on. Once a final winner had been chosen your bridesmaids will need to be measured. They can be measured here or at another bridal shop in their home state. Once we have received their measurements and down payments we can place the order. On average, shipping for bridesmaids can take up to four months- we recommend ordering your bridesmaids 6-7 months before the wedding to allow ample time for production and any needed alterations.

Welcome to another installment of the BWC blog. We are a full service bridal shop located in Viroqua, WI. One of the most important aspects of your wedding is the dress. Here are a few hints and insider tips to help you pick the perfect gown. First of all, do your research. Look through Bridal magazines and the Internet (you can link to our designers’ by clicking the link on the left side of the blog) to begin your search. Browse and get ideas about which necklines, fabrics or details fit your perfect day vision. The next thing to consider is timing. In our perfect world scenario we would love for you to have your gown ordered between ten months to a year before your wedding; to allow time for production (which can take up to six months), and to allow you ample time for alterations around your hectic schedule.
Now the fun can begin- trying on!!! In order to serve you best we recommend appointments- just call (608-637-8131) or e-mail (bonniesstaff@gmail.com) to make an appointment. We recommend weekday mornings for appointments- in general they are more peaceful and calm then a busy Saturday. When you come in for your appointment we recommend that you keep your entourage small- sometimes too many opinions can make decision making very difficult. Another tip of advice is to eat a snack or light meal before your appointment- to keep your focus throughout.
Once you come into our store, one of the BWC consultants will meet with you and discuss your "perfect day vision". Once your consultation is complete, you may browse through our large inventory and select those that you would like to try on. Your consultant will then help you into the gowns in our bridal suite. Together you will analyze the fit and style of each gown. Your consultant may also pull a few selections from our inventory that have details or necklines that have been working for you. Welcome to another chapter of the BWC blog!
